The Journey of a Creative

Cryss' creative journey began at a young age, being inspired by her mother who is a designer and pattern maker, and her father who enjoys designing and creating handmade clothing for action figures as a hobby. As she watched them, she developed her own creative passion for art, painting in watercolor, exploring art workbooks, while also exploring crocheting, making beaded bookmarks, and even doing her own nails. In the early 2000's she acquired a special painting technique called “One Stroke Painting” where she fell in love with acrylic paint. She attended her first session being the only artist who showed up. The instructor wanted to cancel, but Cryss' mother insisted on how good of an artist she was despite her age. And from that day she became a favorite student.

In 2005 Cryss painted and gifted her great grandmother a custom painted tea set that was loved and left on display. She hand painted many gifts for family and began selling artwork to classmates and teachers throughout her academic journey. Art class, of course, was her favorite. Coincidently, although she has a passion for art, Cryss did not pursue an education in art like her mother suggested. Instead she earned a BA in Public, Professional and Organizational Communication and a certificate in Paralegal Studies. She has sold custom painted glassware, and created many special occasion and household gifts. Cryss loves creating pieces that leave a special and peculiar touch to any home. In 2018, her creative journey led her to fashion, sewing staple pieces of her wardrobe, and for others, specializing in modest apparel and holy garments according to Numbers 15:38 KJV.

Cryss became an instructor prior to Covid and has not stopped since. She hosts paint sessions where every attendee becomes an artist tapped into their creative flow and leave feeling both relaxed and proud of themselves for creating a brand new beautiful masterpiece, all from scratch to hang in their homes. She believes everyone is able to create something beautiful and is inspired by the opportunity to teach others how to create their own artwork. Whether young, older or first timer, her instruction inspires artists to creative while trusting the creative process in art and in their own walk of life.

Cryss' favorite scripture says "Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:31. She is Yah's Treasures Soul. She's a daughter, sister, wife, mother and artist who loves what she does. Of all roles assigned, she gives all glory, gratitude and honor to The Most High YHWH, and thanks to all who support her creative journey.
